Shortly after lamorne morris secured his first-ever Emmy, Powell took to Instagram Stories to express his pride. “So unbelievably proud of my friend,” Powell, 35, wrote, adding a black-and-white photo of the two in matching pilot jumpsuits from their 2014 film Sex Ed. Powell also added a crying face emoji and applause emoji, tagging Morris and calling him an “Emmy Winner.”
Morris, 41, received the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role as Deputy Witt Farr in Fargo. During his acceptance speech, Morris gave a heartfelt shoutout to his mother, humorously saying, “She’s been my biggest champion since I dropped out of her… butt, whatever, I know where babies come from.” He also thanked his 4-year-old daughter, Lily, playfully teasing, “I told you I would do it, you always doubted me.”
Other New Girl stars joined in congratulating Morris, with Hannah Simone saying, “Never a doubt in my mind,” and Max Greenfield sharing a clip of Morris’ speech with a crown emoji.
Morris had previously documented his emotional reaction to the Emmy nomination in a video where his daughter poked fun at him, asking, “Daddy, are you crying again?”
